Why should I order a fruit box online and should not buy my fruits in the supermarkets next door?
Be part of the change. In supermarkets we often only have one choice: Oranges from South Africa, Avocados from Peru, Passion Fruits from Colombia, and Almonds from California – does it have to be like that? At Box D'Orange we are convinced that the best fruits don't have to travel from other Continents before they land on our table. Therefore we are proud to offer you high-quality fruits from the south of Portugal that are harvested when the mature cycle is completed and have short transport routes to the consumers.
Where do the products come from?
For now, the majority of the fruits are produced in the south of Portugal, more specifically in the Algarve. Due to the excellent weather conditions and many hours of sunlight the fruits have an extraordinary quality.
Do you work alone or with farmers of the region?
We are proud to inform you that we are currently working in 3 generations on our farm in the south of Portugal and currently all our products are produced only by us.
However, we are constantly expanding our business. In the future, we are planning to work together with other farmers in our region so you can enjoy an even wider range of high-class products from Portugal and other EU countries.

Why is it better to order 10 kg instead of 5 kg?
We recommend ordering a larger quantity for several reasons:
1.) You get more for your money and can share the delicious fruits with your family, friends or colleagues (if you want that).
2.) So that your order arrives safely, our farmers pack them with great care in cardboard boxes that you can of course recycle. When ordering a 10 kg box, you automatically reduce packaging material compared to two 5 kilo boxes.
3.) When ordering from Box D'Orange, there are currently still quite high transport costs. In order to reduce these transport costs including the costs of your box a little, we recommend ordering a larger quantity.

Why are your fruits more expensive than the fruits in the supermarkets?
At Box D'Orange we have set ourselves the goal of ensuring that farmers receive fair prices for their fruit.
Farmers often sell their products to retailers who then sell the goods to supermarket chains. Supermarkets often have fixed prices at which they sell certain products, such as oranges. The farmer, the middleman, and the supermarket must earn money from these prices. Unfortunately, the farmers often get the smallest piece of the profit cake here. This is not the case with Box D'Orange. Our farmers receive fair prices for their products and, in addition to a share of the profit, can cover the costs of their farm, staff, insurance, nutrients for the plants, machines, etc. In addition to the fair prices for the farmers' products, our prices also include shipping, packaging & delivery costs, personnel costs, website costs, insurance, and others.

Shipping
How does the shipping work?
It is important for us to deliver our products in the best quality possible to you.
We harvest the fruits upon your order and pack them carefully. Therefore an efficient transport is crucial so you receive your order in the quality and condition that you and our fruits deserve.
To reduce the carbon footprint we send the boxes on Mondays only.
We are working in a natural environment and sometimes mother nature plans a surprise for us. Therefore we kindly ask for your understanding that unexpected climate conditions may delay the shipping of your order as our products might need another day or two on the tree. As soon as your order has been placed we will inform you about the approximate delivery date. In case that you need your box on a specific day please inform us ahead of your order via mail office@boxdorange.com and we will try our best to accommodate your desired delivery date.
The Shipping is always included in the price.

Can I track my Box when it is on its way?
Once we have sent your Box, you will see your tracking number on your profile. We will also send you an email with your tracking number.

Planted a tree
How many trees does Box D'Orange plant?
Together with OneTreePlanted, we plant one tree per order/box - so if you also order a single box we will plant a tree afterward. When you order subscriptions, we also plant a tree for each box - for example, if you have a weekly subscription you can help ensure that 52 are planted in one year.

Where are the trees planted?
With OneTreePlanted, we plant trees in those regions of the world where they are most needed.

Trees help purify the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat for over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Planting trees process a lot of CO2 emissions and make the world a little greener again.

How can I pay for my box?
There are several options. You can either pay by credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and others) or bank transfer via iDeal and Klarna.
